Class Types – Lock and Load on all these choices

LIVE – group, in-person classroom setting. Hands-on activities, demos, breaks, and lunch. Classes can be held at a local business, residence, meeting hall, or other setting. Masks and other precautions will be as directed, and in accordance with the Michigan governor’s latest executive orders.

VIRTUAL – These classes consist of Facebook live, Zoom, Outlook Meetings, etc., format, which will vary by class or by client request. Mainly made up of several separate virtual class rooms sessions, varying from 1, 2, or 3, in the evening (ie: 7-9 PM). – Virtual meeting access codes are provided in the confirmation email sent to you after you register. Shooting requirements are completed with an on-site visit (on a separate, usually the following day) to a local gun range.

CUSTOM – We can provide a private event for your family, work teams, or a group of friends, at a location of your choice. We can set up a virtual event, or set up a LIVE classroom-style event at your home, office, business location / shop, garage, man-cave, barn, etc., then make arrangements with a local gun range – or on-site if you have a large property area and depending on local ordinances – for shooting requirements. PRIVATE – Both Pam and Rick offer private lessons if you would like a more personal and intimate training / shooting experience. Contact them individually for their availability and fees.

CPL RENEWAL LAW REVIEW ONLY – When it’s time for your CPL renewal, click-in to one of our virtual meetings or stop by one of our Live meetings during the LAW portion of the class to get updates on the changes in the law. This will get you the information required towards one of the renewal requirements. Contact us for your timing and sign-up procedure.

All class dates and time details are listed on the class registration form on the calendar page of this website for each class date. The class registration form includes range address and shooting time slots available (20-30 minutes, one-on-one instruction with course instructors) to best accommodate their personal schedules.

This course is the training requirement for the MICHIGAN concealed pistol license

What the CPL Class Covers: 

Basic Pistol Safety

•Fundamentals of shooting

•Proper grip

•Proper sight alignment

•Different calibers and types of pistols and ammo

•How to check if a gun is loaded or not

•Correct loading an gun loading procedures

•Difference between cover and concealment

•How to deal with a deadly encounter

•When you are allowed to use deadly force

•Places you are allowed to carry your pistol concealed and pistol free zones

•Suggestions on how to select a type of gun / ammo for your needs

•How to apply for your Michigan CPL

On the Range

NRA certified Instructors and Range Safety Officers are on-site to coach and assist students to load and shoot.

• We have typically 1 instructor/range safety officer per every 1-2 students.

Ammo (50 rounds- purchase at range) and Gun Rentals (use ours – $20) are available at the range or bring your own.

Targets are set at various distances, and students will get a chance to experience:


Shooting fundamentals – load, stances, aim, fire, unload, clear jams/misfires

•Practice rapid fire

•Instinctive (point) shooting

•Shoot from different stances [The Weaver & Isosceles]

•Learn to shoot from standing concealed positions

•Shoot the required 50 rounds

What to bring to LIVE class

Photo ID (Drivers licence)

1.Pistol/Handgun/Holster (optional) – Leave in car until we go to Range

2.Non-Alcohol Beverage

3.Good Attitude

4.Remaining balance in cash for class fee and/or other items

5.Pen or pencil, notebook or paper for notes

You must register and pay the balance of any registration fees in cash before day of the class.

Upon class AND range completion, students are awarded a certificate with their name indicating they have successfully passed the class.  

Students use this certificate to satisfy the Michigan Concealed Pistol License CPL training requirement. You are ready to apply for your CPL permit. – Good Luck and THANKS !!
